Hi,
I was just wondering whether anyone else had had a lot of success with Nemaslug. Having bought some this year on the recommendation of a Cornish friend I was a bit disappointed on reading the instructions. Firstly I am nearly out of the use by date, owing to the frosts we have been having didn't seem much point in planting anything just yet and neither do the slugs appear to be active. Then on reading the instructions it would appear that you have to apply to wet soil and then keep it moist for two weeks after and not apply in direct sunlight neither is it effective on heavy clay. Our allotment which was freshly dug last year was covered in slugs and I thought this would be the answer. However on reading the other posts I think I will stick to the new Slug pellets and just use the Nemaslug around the garden and on a couple of seeded rows of carrots etc. Anyone else have any comments?

I used Nemaslug on my potatoes last year.
Big success! No slug damage at all.
Then they all went down with blight.

I also used Nemaslug on the potato beds last year and even with all the wet weather had almost no slug damage. The slugs seem to be reduced on the treated beds the following year too - or they were the last time I used it. I don't use it every year as it is so expensive.

The slugs are appearing in my garden and have already eaten some day lilies, so I would apply it as soon as you can before its expiry date. You water it on, so the soil will be wet anyway, and unless we have a very dry spell, it is unlikely you will need to wet it again.

If you work out how much ground you need to treat you can choose which needs most protection and just apply it there if the packet isn't sufficient for the whole plot.

I must say that I put slug pellets down in the carrot bed as the blighters ate all the first sowing. I thought they hadn't germinated until I saw the remains of seedlings along the row. I keep the bed completely covered with enviromesh right from sowing the seed to keep carrot fly away so the hedgehogs and birds cannot get to the pellets. I never use them on open ground.

Hi Hilary and others,my first contact what a great site. Nemaslug i've been using for a few years highly recommend watering in, even if has gone past used by date still use. Store cool in fridge until use, I use in combination with a few ferramol slug pellets, these take out the huge slugs and snails that the nematodes stuggle with!
seems to do the trick.Im in cornwall but used to live in Mildenhall!

Thanks all- will give it a go tonight. Will add some pellets when I next do a nightly slug hunt since we seem to have all shapes and sizes of slugs.
