there is on the forum
www.allotments-uk.com a request to contact your mp regards to an early day motion concerning provision of allotments. original request is from the society of allotment and leisure gardeners. quoting from the allotment uk site the motion reads;- That this house notes the benefits allotments provide to local communities and particularly pensioners, providing an outdoor activity, encouraging people to grow their own produce and promoting gardening & horticulture and a healthy lifestyle; further notes that many local authorities have sold land occupied by tennants. and calls on the government to work with local authorities not only to stop a further loss of this provision but to encourage the availability of a greater number of allotments in local communities...rgds paul.

Hi Paul,
In last weeks Horticulture Week magazine a comment from the Secretary of the NSofA&LG Geoff Stokes:
"The government want to swap words with action. It is crazy that the Deparment set up to save Allotments and open space is the same one calling for thousands of new houses." Makes you wonder though!!!
I suggest that is up to us all to lobby our MP's on this matter and it is a matter of urgency this is no time to be complacent.
