Hi,
Since we are on the subject of seeds in compost in plastic bags I always use this for grass seed. Put some compost in a black plastic bag add the grass seed and a little moisture and then leave once the grass starts to germinate spread where you want it to grow. It is a brillinat way for re seeding patches since the birds don't touch it.

I do that with peas, they don't seem to be so attractive to mice once they have sprouted.
