Yesterday I bought a packet of Suttons "Marshall" red cos lettuce seeds, partly because of the bright red colour of the leaves depicted on the packet, & partly because for space reasons, I like to grow decorative vegetables amongst my flower borders. Can anybody tell me whether the leaves in this variety are bright red/purple (like red cabbage) or a reddish brown like some of the other looser-leaved lettuce varieties. I've never seen this variety before and wonder if it's a new one.

Hi Primrose,
Have just googled for you and come up with this;

http://www.suttons.co.uk/ProductDetail. ... uct=167746

you can get an enlarged picture on this site.

Thank you Johnboy. I've now sown a few seeds and will have to curb my impatience to see what they turn out like (if the slugs don't get there first).

I clicked on that site, JB and got no images. So I went to google and found:

http://www.marshalls-seeds.co.uk/rkmain ... =1020-2577

and that showed the plant. So if one doesn't work, paople can try the other.

Hi Mike,
Strange as it maybe the link still works for me.
I find that half the things listed by people do not work for me.
Thank you for posting the alternative.
JB.
