Black spot

For the last 2 years I have had black spot on my Sungold tomatoes. I did plant these in pots as I only have a small garden. Was this problem passed on from the previous year. Should I have washed out the pots?
I would be grateful for any advic as I can't face another year without my favourite tomatoes.
