I was truly stunned this week to receive a letter at work from Vaillant (heating people). It was addressed to one of our Vaillant boilers!
Mr B Boiler
Institution of Lighting Engineers
etc
Where do they find people stupid enough to enter this on a database?
I may say that Mr A Boiler is feeling very left out!
Which reminds me, a data input company I used to employ were asked to do a load of data input for the Ministry of Defence. The man who came out said he wanted xxx amount of data inputting but the typists wouldn't be allowed to read it as it was top secret.

Dear Chantal, please don't be too hard on such people they are only trying to do their job.
Stupid fools.

I fail to understand how they get the jobs in the first place.

I suppose if they are clever enough to have the job, they must have been clever enough to have got the job, or is that the same thing.

If it was a Vaillant boiler, surely the letter should have been addressed to Mr V Boiler. Unless it was an old one - in which case it should have been to Old Boiler
Then, if you want some daft stuff from Wales, there's
this
and
this
The first should appeal to submariner. As regards the second, the children have been invited to
sing at the Savoy in London and get £1000 donation to school funds.

Common sense has long since flown out of the window. Chantal's comment reminds me of the time when I had to write to an organisation asking them to remove my father's name from their mailing list because he had died. Back came a letter saying Dear Mr. Deceased X,
This is to confirm that we have now removed your name from our mailing list because of your recent death".
Honestly, I didn't know whether to laugh or cry. Just wish I'd kept the letter and framed it.

Fancy telling children to stop singing because it was too loud

How stupid. It's beautiful hearing the kids singing and seeing them enjoying the whole experience. I mean, you wouldn't go to a classical or rock concert and then tell them to shut the **** up cos they were too loud
Good luck to those kids and I hope the whole trip inspires them to carry on singing.
As for stupidity, here's one. The DWP did a recruitment drive to employ people to go out to claimants who receive certain benefits. They were to go to their homes to do this. They then employed NON DRIVERS because it would have discriminatory for them not to. Out of 50 jobs, 45 people were unable to drive and were given lessons at the public expense.
Then there is my local council I recycle a lot of stuff but, because I live in a non garden terraced house, i'm not allowed to have a recycling wheely bin because I don't fit the criteria to have one. However, if I put out too much recycling the people who collect it can refuse to if there is too much.
They pick up my recycling boxes and empty them into a wheely bin before they are unloaded onto a bin wagon. I argued the point but couldn't get anywhere because of a stupid rule.
I could go on about banks too, but that would really get me started.
After my dad died mum had the same problem with letters coming for him. In the end, she sent them back with a note saying, please re-direct to Plot 15, Anfield Crematoriam......never had any more after that

I say full marks to Vaillant, Chantal. This is a cunning plan of theirs. They've sent you (or Mr B B) some junk mail and 'stunned' you into reading it instead of chucking it in the bin!
I'd never heard of them before but have just checked their site (how sad am I?) and they seem to make some impressive kit. I think I might get in touch when my awful Worcester Bosch finally gives up the ghost.

I see where you're coming from John, but I still didn't read the letter before chucking it out. I figured that anyone sending something that stupid doesn't deserve a read.
I have a Worcester boiler and it's lovely

Many yonks ago I was a junior clerk in a nationalised industry.
Circulars & info etc came round in the mail tray and you had to initial a cover slip & pass it on.
Because I was only a junior I once got a circular back with a note saying, "This was not meant for your information, please delete your initials and initial the deletion."

I think I'm right in saying that the bloke who owns the Worcester Bosch factory (in Worcester, oddly enough), started up a conservation trust which owns quite a bit of land in and around Worcester, so conserving wildlife and suchlike. Top man.
