Does anyone know if any of the better brands of hedge trimmer manufacturers, make a 12 inch/ 300mm petrol model.

I think one of these would be ideal for trimming the ever increasing amount of topiary i seem to be trimming these days.

On e-bay there are often the Ryobi multi-function strimmer which can have a short hedge trimmer instead of the strimming bit, also a small rotovator attachement. :D

Thankyou Peter, i will have a look.

I had better not get a rotovator attachment though, i could imagine the look of horror on my customers faces as i turned up to do their prized topiary. :)

i cant recall seeing much less than 18 inch blade length on a petrol trimmer, all the tiny ones seem to be cordless, which i wouldnt touch , batteriees allways seem to go flat when im using them :D , had you considered a mains electric one, the client supplies the fuel then :D i no longer have a petrol trimmer or chainsaw i use electric. 2.5 mm extension leads are good for at least a hundred feet from a socket. i do have a diesel jenny for anything further away and red diesel is a fraction of the price of petrol :D
re the ryobi split shaft strimmers with attachments, they also do a range of electric power units upto a kilowatt so you can end up with a choice of petrol or electric power units with stimmer, pole saw, trimmer, cultivator, etc attachments all of which will fit on the wheelbarrow :D

Good morning Richard, thankyou for your ideas, if it's down the electric route, it will have to be a generator as a couple of the gardens are huge, and a long way away from a power source.
But i've never owned a generator before so thats quite exciting in itself. :)
