Is it too late to plant sweet peas? My allotment neighbour gave me some seed, which I have just rediscovered...
Can I plant in root trainers now or is it better/possible to plant in spring. I have a cold frame and an unheated conservatory that doubles as a greenhouse, which probably gains some warmth from the house. Would I be able to get them going in there?

I would wait until about end of January now before sowing and then sow in slight warmth (a cool window sill will do) and then putting the seedlings out into the conservatory. By the time they have germinated, the light levels should have risen and daytime temperatures, too.

I usually sow mine at the beginning of February (the same time as the onions!) and then treat them as above.

Thanks Monica, I'll do as you suggest. Putting it on my calendar now.
