I'm still picking strawberries from my plants. Whilst I'm picking them fairly under-ripe before the slugs get them, I'm amazed how sweet and full of flavour they are for the time of year. (Mostly Cambridge Favourite variety.) My blackberries stopped having much flavour quite early in September and whilst the Devil p****d on them ages ago he seems to have completely by-passed the strawberries.
I don't pick the wild Blackberries now as the devil has had them, but ny cultivated ones are still wonderful.
As for strawberries - we're now on our third flush of fruit and it is wonderful. They make a great pudding with yellow and red rasps, bluberries, blackberries, plums, pears, apples and anything else with custard or cream.
