Strange stuff - a local counter story in our newspaper here quoted directly from the Red Arrows PR - that they had heard nothing official on this - on plans for the Arrows to be used or not.

To me it sounds like another wonderful media-led panic, but it would be helpful for someone in government / the Olympic committee to say something on this.

The quoted email above looks awfully like a chain-mail spam I've seen many a time.

EDIT:
Theres a response form the Government on that petition that makes a lot of sense.
Plus if you think about it, the opening ceremonies are at night - in the stadium!! Imagine 90,000 people cheering and watching the opening ceremonies - who is going to see some planes flying over in the darkness? ;)

Anyway - debate away!

If it is true it doesnt suprise me one bit. Its political correctness gone mad. I wonder what the team themselves think of this. If it was up to me i would round all the cardigan wearers and put them in a british built ship with enough fuel to get to international waters and torpedo them with a british built torpedo despatched from from a british built trident submarine, have it. I tell you what is the world coming to :x

Do I detect a slight hint of

creeping into the forum :?:

Thanks Chantel for putting the link right.
Don't quite know what to think now.
Would they only be flying at the opening ceremonies?
Either way over 18000 have signed the petition.

Beryl.

Dunno Beryl, I signed it anyway, what harm can it do. Then again, I also signed the one for Leeds United to have the points they were docked at the beginning of the season, reinstated.
