No, folks, nothing to do with James Martin, but I celebrated my birthday over the weekend (one of those with a nought at the end and going towards the century) and guess what my tribe of husband, children and grandchildren gave me as a present? A specially commissioned painting of our allotment hut, complete with sweet peas, onions and grassy paths.

I was absolutely flabbergasted and it's now hanging in pride of place in the sitting room. Don't you agree that was a lovely prezzy which I would never have thought of buying myself?

Dear Monika, you don't mean you are ninety do you.
As for the present, that really is such a special touch and something i'm sure you will treasure.
I know the feeling as someone i work for gave me a botanical painting that she had painted especially for me, i must say i was quite choked up.

And may i wish you a happy belated birthday, and i hope you have many more special ones.

Happy birthday.

I just celebrated my 60th birthday: like wine we improve with age :-)

(At least I say so, Mrs Madasafish has other opinions...:-(((((

Belated Happy Birthday Monika. Now when it's pouring with rain and you can't get out onto the allotment, you can gaze at your picture and use the power of positive thinking to demolish the weeds !
What a charming and thoughtful gift!

And a belated 60th birthday to you Madasafish. :)

I think we could do with a column with all our birthday dates in, so we can all give each other the warmest of wishes. :)
I probably would be a little too bashful to put mine in.

You are all so kind! Very many thanks for your good wishes and belated happy birthday to you, madasafish (and yes, I AM older than you!). I like your idea, Primrose, of gazing at the picture and will certainly do that when it's horrible outside, though this weekend I think we might get quite a lot of gardening done. The forecast is brill, I see.
