What a strange year....

Isn't it? Today I harvested 3 sorts of strawberries, 3 types of raspberries, blackberries, 4 types of beans, courgettes, sweetcorn, potatoes, pumpkins, squash, artichokes, chard, spinach, cabbage, late onions, broccoli, early leeks, carrots and parsnips. Apples, plums, crab apples, quinces and pears. Under cover, there was tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, physalis, chillies, aubergines and grapes.
It's October. Has the world gone mad????

Quite possibly Tigger.I nearly posted 2 weeks ago because at the garden centre where I do a bit of part time work, we had 5 rhododendrons in flower!..S.T.

Gosh, Tigger, that sounds a marvellous collection! We have nothing like that variety, but I did get some great carrots today, untouched by carrot fly, and also a lovely parsnip as well as a teeny-weeny cauliflower and several other brassicas. We do have an apple tree which has a few flowers on alongside the apples!
I wonder what this winter will bring?!

It's certainly better than anything we had this summer when the soft fruits rotted before we could pick them, the beans were hopeless, sweetcorn didn't ripen, tomatoes and potatoes were wiped out, etc., etc.
Some of it was planned, but much was due to the plants having a second flush. They must have assumed summer was autumn and this is now late spring/early summer!
As for winter - some indoor spuds, carrots and parsnips, outdoor kale, artichokes, chard, leeks, turnips, swedes, sprouts and cabbages, plus a few stray tomatoes and chillies, I hope.
