Dear Shallot Man, i don't think bats are actually blind, it's just that they cannot see anything.

...but, as bats are not blind, they see when it's dark, just like the rest of us. Then they use echo-location to get around.

"Blind as a bat" is just one of those old myths. I've never seen a newt in a pub, come to think of it
