Last year I tossed a host of mixed squash seeds onto my compost heap over the autumn, which was visited regularly by "Ratty" who we suspect lived under our neighbour's old shed in the adjoining garden. The shed was demolished in January and the surrounding area dug but unplanted. Our neighbour was amazed to find numerous squash plants appearing in the spring. (Suspect Ratty had been stealing the squash seeds for his winter stores & hoarding them under the shed). Our neighbour has now harvested a wheelbarrow full of mixed squashes from his unplanted plot, and I have picked one miserable butternut squash from my regularly tended veggie garden. There's no justice, is there ??
