As we grow a lot of carrots I use this as an excuse to try out new varieties. Purple Dragon and Healthmaster looked interesting but have both been disappointing. In fact Purple Dragon could only be described as extremely disappointing. Germination not that good, a considerable number of carrots were tiny, many of those of reasonable size split and were unuseable and of those which were useable many had large cores so that in the end I dumped the remaining row. Healthmaster had better germination, the carrots seem coreless but they are thin and puny compared with the Flyaway I have just started to lift.

My Potato Head - not sure if this is the right place to post - maybe technical data?

Colin

I made two sowings of Healthmaster - used whole packet of seed. Total harvest was about 8 carrots! Oddly enough the parsnips in the next block are the best I have ever had.
