Any veg grow in shade?

Hi
I have a large Hawthorn tree that shade an area of grass that I'd like to cultivate & make use of .... but will any veg grow in shade?
I think it will get full sun untill 11 a.m. in the summer, but then have nothing but dappled / full shade for the rest of the day.
It seems a shame to waste the space.

just nicked this off the garden organic site...
"Try growing some shade tolerant vegetables (shade for more than half a day) like beetroot, 'Bolthardy', calabrese, kale, kohl rabi, lettuce – little gem. Also radish, spinach and herbs - chives, mint and parsley are all shade tolerant. Fruit such as raspberries, blackcurrants, gooseberry and rhubarb are plants of the woodland edge and will thrive in this environment."
should be enough to get you going!

Plants for shade

We have feral strawberries Cambridge Late Pine growing almost under the privet boundary hedge, mixed up with ivy and loving it. Strawberries are naturally a woodland plant.
In the polytunnel rhubarb grows successfully under the grapevine which gets its leaves when the rhubarb is closing down.
Watercress seems to need shade at the height of summer.
