Blackcurrant bigbud

Can't identify that mould? Got a great tip for keeping slugs at bay? Suggestions for organic weed control? Post them here...

We seem to have some space on the allotment to grow fruit and would love to plant two or three blackcurrant bushes. Two questions:

Our allotment neighbour's blackcurrants are badly affected by 'bigbud'. How long will it take before our new plants would be infected? And is it worth growing them at all?

If we go ahead, what variety would you recommend? We used to have Wellington XXX some years ago and really liked them, particularly the berries grew in a long 'string' rather than singly.

Not sure about big bud spreading.
We are well pleased with our Ben Lomond.
