It's been a poor year for beans down our way. However now that they've started producing, I noticed that many of my runners are growing in a semicircle, rather than long & straight.

I can't remember the variety, but is this a common occurance? I've been watering them regularly through the heat of the current week, plus giving them a fortnightly feed with Tomorite.

Any suggestions? It makes them a pain to string!

Don't know Colin. Mine were very slow to start now I'm having a job to keep up with them. Some do tend to curl.
Why not buy one of those little bean slicers, much easier to use. Beans shouldn't need stringing this time of the year anyway.

Have had a few curly ones but we never bother to shred ours - just pick them before they get too long, which means they don't need stringing, and then cut them into chunks.
