Hi all

My peas are suffering from downy mildew.

They are an old variety, Alderman, which grow 2 metres tall.

Does anyone have any ideas, please?

Dear Guy, if they were mine i would pick what peas were ready, and then pull them up and burn them.

Just to be a little more horrid, my Alderman are covered in flower and peas, just one thing to spoil it for me is hat they are not growing up Hazel sticks, thats how i love to see them. Mine are growing up wire netting this year.

Well, that's really cheered me up!!

This is the first time I've grown Alderman. My wife and I reckon they are probably the best tasting peas we've ever had. It would be a shame to have to give up on them just as they are beginning to crop.

Is this variety particularly sensitive to mildew, do you happen to know?

Dear Guy, i don't think Alderman are that susceptible to mildew, they can get it at the end of a hot dry summer, but i don't think that can be the cause this year. Maybe it's because they have got very stressed this year with the wet weather.
