My olive tree in the ground has grown approximately 3 foot since the winter. Can anyone give me any tips as to how and when I can prune it?

Dear Soozie, firstly a warm welcome to the forum on your first posting.

Secondly i know very little about Olive trees, so i can be of little help.

But i'm sure someone else will be able to help you.

Blimey Soozie, are you sure that's an olive tree? Mine's not grown three feet in over 10 years!

I prune mine by cutting back the longer shoots to encourage them to bush out. I'm no expert on this though so I'd wait for someone else to comment before doing anything drastic.
