I have just podded a huge bag of our broad beans (variety Witkiem Manita). The pods are large and healthy but quite a few had beans missing inside them, certainly more than usual, some had just two or three beans in them. Could it be faulty pollination, with this strange weather we have had this year? The variety, soil, timing of cultivation has been the same as for many years past.
