would anyone advise me on the practice of cutting off potato haulms to prevent the spread of blight, or for any other reason ?

Cutting off Potato Haulms

David,

I was advised to cut off the haulms when they succumb to blight, then leave the potatoes in the ground for three weeks before digging them up. I am not sure why three weeks, but it has worked for me in the past.

I am not too sure about this year, as I have never had blight so early, and am not sure if there will be any potatoes underneath to collect.

Ian,

the potators have, so far, been ok (rocket) but my second earlies (kestrel) are still in the ground. i think they will be ok for size but cutting the haulms will, i assume, stop any further growth
