Rotary Mower Cleaning

Years ago there was often a little gismo advertised in the Saturday small ads for attaching to the deck of rotary mowers so you could connect in a hose pipe and clean the deck with the blades running. There were even some mowers with it built in.
Does anybody know (a) if the idea worked and (b) if you can still buy them. Google has failed me - mustn't be a sponsored link which is all you seem to get since Google went commercial.

Geoff,
I have a Honda ride-on with these connectors fitted as standard and they do work. You have to have the cutting deck lowered right down and the blades engaged. It must work like a dish washer.
Regards , Gerry.

I would think that you can buy these (Hoselock etc) drill the top of the deck and fit them. Mine has one either side.

Hello Geoff
I have a Masport rotary mulcher for cutting rough grass which has a place on the deck for fitting a hose. It works well provided I use it just after I've finished mowing. If the old grass has dried out underneath it doesn't work so well.
The best way to clean it thoroughly though is a short blast from my pressure washer.

I spotted an advert for a Masport with it built in and emailed a stockist to ask about a device. They have offered me a kit for 12.99 but without detailing what it consists of.
I changed my ride-on last year and the new one is heavy to tilt for cleaning. I have built a narrow flight of steps that I can use like a pit to drive over and pressure wash from underneath but it is very messy so I thought one of these devices might be easier as long as they work. It is encouraging to hear the principle is sound but I think I want a bit of detail before I spend that much.

I used this method on a Bolens ride on many years ago, it made an excellent job of covering the surrounding area with soggy grass cuttings and green juice.

I recommend deck washing as i have just had to fork out
over a thousand quid to replace a rust ravaged deck on my Iseki SG13 ride on. I should know better don't tell me!.
