my beans have been attacked by the bean seed fly. they get started after transplanting, then the grub burrows into the stem, just below the tip which then droops and eventually dies at that point. result the plant fails to develope and climb.
any advice on prevention and treatment of yet undamaged plants gratefully received.
thanks

My plot neighbour grows beans up strings instead of canes, the reason being he can soak the strings in liquid Derris before he puts them up. I'm dubious about the long-term value of this but he never seems to get any bean pests. Is he clever or just lucky?
