Have just finished reading "My Life on a Hillside Allotment", by Terry Walton, who had his first allotment aged 11, and at one time ran 10 [yes10] allotments at one time. Well worth ordering from your local Library. Shallotman

Thanks for that feedback. Am always interested to know about books which other people find enjoyable so will try and see if it's available in my local library. 10 Allotments !! That's an awful lot of work and weeding, but perhaps he was also trying to grow enough to sell his surplus produce? No doubt all will be revealed when I manage to get the book.
Sounds good

I read it a couple of months ago and thoroughly enjoyed it.
I've also recently read "Digger's Diary" which was also very good.

Is that the same Terry Walton that was on the Big Dig on TV. earlier this year or last with Simon Mayo?.
The programme was about two allotment sites one in London and the other in Cardiff which was on a steep slope.
