I've today picked 7 lbs of strawberries and already have a cupboard full of home-made jams. Do any of you have some suggestions for things I can do with raw or stewed strawberry purree. (Husband is already busy making purree for ice cream base).Thanks.

They're lovely dried. You could make strawberry wine or strawberry syprup or puree them to use as a base for a sweet sauce.

You could use them in smoothies? banana and strawberry is very nice, and pineapple goes very well too. I am going to wash and chop my surplus and freeze in smoothie size portions, ready to add to OJ and other fruits to blitz! :D

Thanks for these suggestions. I'd forgotten about the smoothie option which sounds a good way to kick off the morning. (I've cooked them a couple of times in my microwaved porridge) How do you dry them Tigger? Do you have a dehydrator? Am not sure how I would best dry them without one. Apart from storing the purree in ice cubes, I'm wondering if anybody has any other good ways of storing mini size portions for one-off use.

How about pouring it onto a swiss roll tin, open freezing it, and then when frozen breaking it up like old fashioned peanut brittle. It could be stored in bags or an old ice cream container, and just take out however much you need each time.

Hi Primrose,
I put mine through the blender and store in the freezer as Strawberry Fool in one of my favourites.
When blended with cream they are wonderful!

Hi Primrose,
If you can get hold of some sort of ice lolly mould & sticks, you could make strawberry smoothie ice lollies - truly scrumptious!
