Anyone in the South East planting anything ket this year.

I havent started yet, got the seeds but toooooo cold

Planting, no. Sowing, yes.
We have tomatoes, peas, broad beans, melons coming along nicely.
How are you getting on with your breadmaking?

I'm all happy as my first tomatoes, leeks and dahlias (!) are through in the propagators.

I will be busy this weekend, Peppers, Aubergines, a few tomatoes, more broad beans amoungst others.

Also going to try some early summer cabbage, Hispi.

Already have carrot, lobelia, sweet peas in and up.

This is all under cover in a heated house.

Out in the cold frame I have cauli and winter salads. These were sown back in November and the salads are just about ready for a crop.

Alos need to make a couple of raised beds and carry on with some digging.

Long bath Sunday night I expect!

I have some broccoli in the greenhouse, planted in the autumn, waiting until spring. It's just too cold in Dorset to venture out into the garden so I've had to be content with growing bean sprouts in a jam jar on the kitchen windowsill.

I sowed broad beans outside yesterday and sweetpeas and peas in the unheated polytunnel. Also sowed a row of radishes in the pt in early Jan and they've germinated happily

Message for Jerry, could you tell me what temperature you heat your greenhouse to? I only have a polytunnel but am trying to keep it warm with bubble wrap and propane heaters - not sure I can get it to the right temp for tomatoes and melons etc yet though...

I have the heat set to a minimum of 14 degrees at the moment. I whave sowed aubergine this morning but they are in the house on top of a radiator to germinate then will be moved into the greenhouse.

In the greenhouse I have sweet peas, broad beans, onions, carrots laobelia, echinacia plus a few others at the moment.

Toms, peppers and chillies will be sown over the next couple of weeks.

thanks for that - don't think my paltry 7 degrees will be warm enough then!

You can get away with low air temperature if you have bottom heat, if you are heating at least part electrically it's the most economical way to arrange it.
10C. is about the lowest temperature for any growth.

planted some broad beans in trays in the tunnel today, the ice on the bath outside didnt melt today or yesterday, though today seems alot warmer. spring aint got to somerset yet
