How well do leeks and carrots perform if there is so little sun? I have no experience of such a short time of sun.

I've grown Swiss Chard (similar to spinach) in an area that doesn't get a lot of sun and found that it didn't fare too badly but my experience is that most vegetables do need to be exposed to sun for at least half the day to give a reasonable performance.
On the other hand if the soil is in shade i.e. from a fence but there is sunlight higher up you might find that a climbing bean might perform once it gets sufficiently high up the pole to get itself into some brighter light. However, in this case I'd opt for runner beans rather than climbing French Beans as they seem to be a little more robust.

Any of the lettuce family should be fine through the summer, and mixed salad leaves also.
Kind Regards, Old Herbaceous.
