Here's a very thoughtful release from Friends of the Earth on the rush to bio-fuels. It serves to remind us to look carefully at every new venture, be it "eco-friendly" such as this, or "eco-dangerous" such as GM trials.

The US rush to produce ethanol for grain has doubled the price of almost all grain products in the past 12 months (see bread prices).

There will soon be no world surpluses of cheap grain crops... figure out the consequences in the longer term.

Not read much on this, but a phrase or two come to mind:

"EEC Set Aside"

"EEC XXXX mountain"

One negative is "Palm Oil Plantation".

Does this mean that realism has at last caught up with F.O.E.?
Does this mean that at last they have joined the rest of the human race?
I suggest that this is a subject that should not be discussed on this forum. An unworthy topic!
