Picked my first asparagus today.

Grown from seed 2 years ago.Connover's Colossal. Nice with a stir fry.
(very early: the recent rains made it all shoot up with a whoosh).

I sowed Connovers in 2005 too and am toying with the idea of cutting one or two spears per plant as they look healthy enough,
however the text books say they should be left another year before harvesting
Should I or shouldnt I.......
