When gardening yesterday.. and today.. I noticed significantly more ladybirds than normal. In fact, on the flower beds 2-3 ladybirds evry 50cms or so.
Anyone else notice the same or is it just a local population explosion?

I think that these must be last year's 'birds that have survived because of the very mild winter that we've had. I've also noticed quite a few around.

I have loads of ladybirds on my plot, but I think it's because the Field Beans I had in as green manure are plastered with large green aphids (some of which seem to be 2-3 mm long

).
Interestingly, my broad beans (which people often talk about getting blackfly on) are unaffected by anything at the moment.
