Hedgehogs

Can't identify that mould? Got a great tip for keeping slugs at bay? Suggestions for organic weed control? Post them here...

I sometimes catch hedgehogs in my back garden in the nets covering my fruit bushes. I aways free them and they go away. I wondered if when I catch them I could take them to my allotment to eat the slugs, would there be enough food for them to survive. The 20 pole allotment is fenced in with chicken wire so I doubt they could escape, has any one studied hedgehogs that could advise me?

Try St. Tiggywinkles, there may be some useful info on the factsheets page, or maybe just ask them the same question.

My worry would also be whether or not there was enough food and being sure about whether I was taking a mother away from her young, or a youngster away from its family too soon.

I agree with Belinda, I wouldn't move them. Hedgehogs range quite far every night, but they do prefer to make their own choices.
