grass clippings

would it be ok to scatter dry grass clippings along my newly planted potatoes?regards byrpat

On top of the emerging shoots acts like fleece as frost protection. :D

So, go for it.

As long as you haven't recently put any Weed & Feed or other lawn treatment on your lawn, in which case they recommend not using it as a mulch or putting it in your compost heap for at least 5 mowings.

Dear Primrose, that is a very good point you have made there, i know someone that gets grass cuttings for his compost heap from a gardening company, and i know the lawns are treated by a lawn care firm.
I can see him getting problems one day.

Yes, I know somebody who thought all the instructions on the Lawn Weed packet were a load of nonsense, dug his lawn cuttings in all over his borders for mulch and suffered severe damage to his plants as a result.
