I've just had a lemon tree delivered (rather later than I was expecting, I might say) and the instructions say to plant in a mixture of John Innes No.3 and a soil-less compost. Is a normal peat based general purpose compost soil-less? Basically does peat count as soil? If it does, what should I get instead? Help, please.

Dear Granny, your general purpose compost will do just fine mixed with John Innes No3.
Kind Regards, Old Herbaceous.
