hello chaps :)

I have a little garden and no obvious place to put a compost bin so that it's directly on the earth, which is something of a bummer, but hey. So, the Asst.Est.Mgr suggested a rotating jobbie. I did a bit of research and found that a couple of articles say that you have to add all the waste at once, that you can't keep adding to it. If this is the case it causes me a spot of bother in that I would want to add it as I create it! What would I do with it in the meantime?!

Does anyone here have one? If so can you comment on its use and efficacy, please?

Got one, not got the hang of it yet.

Best tip, stand well clear when rotating.

Mine hangs lid end down, weight and balance, but rain and seepage accumulate in the lid and DO NOT go back in when you turn it, they splash out all over the place, usually on me and it don't smell nice. :shock:

I have one, i fill it over a couple of weeks with crass clippings and straw and droppings from my rabbits, it is fun to turn, i can get it to stop either way up and it doesnt splash all over me, but my mix is not terribly wet, after about 4 weeks i have a nice mulch, i've not tried it to go beyond that stage to compost as i have other bins and a wormery as well. but i do like it a lot and it is useful for the straw which otherwise i would have too much of. I usually fill it once, then after a week top it up again as it reduces fairly quickly. I do find the mixture ends up in little cricket ball sized clumps, I dont know if this is to do with the turning.
