Painting plastic bin.

I've been given a very large plastic wastebasket - just right for a couple of tumbling toms - but the bin is a horrible grey colour.

What type of paint to I need to use to change it to a more garden friendly colour (terracotta, for example)? Do I need to prepare the surface at all?

Any DIY tips greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Hello Diane,

Homebase sell PLASTIKOTE paint/decoration spray. It will stick to plastic, and comes in many finishes. I have sprayed two wall baskets, which were an ugly bog standard green colour, with a lovley stone effect. Looks quite nice! As for preparation, just make sure the surface is dry and clean, with no grease or particles on it and the paint should adhere just fine! You can get this in metallics as well.
