Hello and welcome Fish; what an amazing pair of cabbages! How do you stop them getting scoffed by all the bugs and grubs?

Hi Fish,
They are first class Cabbages what variety/type are they, As I can see from the cups you must have picked a few reds cards for your efforts well done.

Hello Fish and welcome !
Those cabbages are indecent! Were you feeding them on Guinness ?? I now feel like climbing down my wormhole and never appearing again to grow vegetables. Seriously, they are magnificent. We will look forward to seeing photos or more of your efforts.

thanks for the kind words of welcome! as for the cabages well i was chuffed too! thyre a variety called brunswick,i baught the seed from medwyns of anglesea.i fed them with well rotted chicken manure.as for keeping the nasties off them i use and swear by enviro mesh by agralan,it keeps every thing out from rabbits to carrot fly!
picked up loads of reds too! the cups there were from the stourhead show, best pair of cabbages, best vegetable, best exhibit in show! well chuffed i was,and they were good eating too,one cabbage lasted the five of us a month!they weighed 22lb each!

Let's all hope that Fish doesn't ever get into growing pumpkins!. We'll all have to emigrate to leave enough land growing room for his vegetables. But it certainly proves the worth of well-rotted chicken manure. My red cabbages ended up the size of tennis balls.
