Just realised i am missing a specialised tomato for drying in this years seed list. Does anyone have any recommendations of varieties that are particularly good for drying?

I tried one last year called Jersey Devil from Plants of Distinction which is a large, heavy plum tomato, quite an unusual shape as it comes to a point. It needs a lot of water - more than the others I had. It dried brilliantly. An Australian friend told me about Amish Paste which is used a lot over there for drying. P of D sell that as well.
http://www.podseeds.co.uk/. They have a great selection of tomatoes and peppers.

I just dried a mix of varieties, depending on what I had, to give it a try. The little ones dried better if I took the seedy wet middles out first, and were nice when dry as they were pretty. The Roma-type tomatoes (San Marzano) were much fleshier and therefore dried better and chewier - the cherry ones were a bit crispy! Nice though. I shall do more this year.

PS Lucullus chard is just coming up in the seedtray! Thanks
