Mine has to be my Felco No2 secateurs!
I can't speak highly enough of them and would thoroughly recommend them to others.
And the Asst. Est Mgr has kindly bought me the leather holster for them too, so I don't leave them lying around

Dear Lynne, mine has to be my flat tyned potato fork, i was given it by a freind, and it belonged to his Grandad. It really feels well balanced and is full of character, thats if a fork can have character of course. It's been a loyal freind over many years, and hopefully many years to come.
I have a pair of felco No9, being a left hooker, well actually i,m pretty good with both my hands, but i just like being awkward.

See, the trouble is that the Asst Est. Mgr would want to fit a Nitrous Oxide kit to it

My pen knife...I know that in these sad times carrying a knife is frowned upon but I am afraid I am guilty.

It is not a large one but there is not a day goes by without me calling upon its use. Its the very first thing I put in the pocket of my gardening jacket.

doesn't it have to be a locking blade for the plod to get really sniffy about it?
I have a Swiss Army knife which caused no bother at all at the London eye, but the Asst. Est Mgr's tiny wee locking jobbie saw him practically handcuffed and marched orf to the Old Bailey!

Well i still have a locking knife, and i wouldn't be without it, it even went to Cornwall with me last year, as i cut some cucumbers early before i left, and i just put it in my pocket as normal.

i wouldnt use a pocket knife that didnt lock, ive had too many of the normal type fold up when they wernt supposed to. i do now try to remember to leave it behind when i go to pick the kids up from school, especially if im wearimg a hooded sweatshirt, the other tool i always carry in the van is a jemmy.

I agree with OH that my flat tined potato fork is the best. I also agree with Lynne that Felcos are the best secateurs (No 8's for me).
As for pen knives I nearly had my dad's taken off me at Chelsea one year when they were doing bag searches. They didn't in the end but I thought later that it would have been rather pointless if they had as inside Chelsea there were stalls selling every sharp object known to gardenkind! Up to and including the largest array of Swiss army knives I have ever seen!!!!!

I go nowhere without my Opinel no. 10. I suspect round here more people carry knives than don't.

Wife always wanted a gun, but I insisted that was going too far.
