Asparagus Pea

I have bought 2 packets of asparagus peas, I have never grown them before, I have been told they are very tasty. has anyone any hints on growing & cooking them?

Pick them when they are about 1" - l l/2" long. Any more and they will be tough and stringy.
Steam, Stir fry or can be eaten raw. No shelling you eat the whole thing.
Grow like ordinary peas but they don't really need supporting. They make attractive bushy plants with bright red flowers. The peas tend to 'hide'under the foliage.

Would you like another 2 packets of seeds?
I've grown them for years, mainly because they look pretty. However, I have come to realise that they taste of little.
For the first time this year, they're not going into the ground.

Hi Alan,
I agree with Beryl and I grew them for a couple of years but found them to be more trouble than they of culinary use. Certainly they make a really good splash of colour and probably best as an ornamental.
