You can now see about half of the moon obscured by earth's shadow, not gone red yet though.

It was red just before the total eclipse, unless my eyes were deceiving me. I was tired though...

I saw a red halo - was that the effects of the wine?

We were playing Bridge and people kept going outside between tables to check on progress. Very unconventional (that's a Bridge joke :? ) but fascinating.

We had the most brilliant view of the eclipse right outside my front door last night. It was brilliant. We were watching through the binoculars and some kids asked what were we looking at. I showed them and they started watching too. Made a change for them not to be making a nuisance of themselves.

It was really clear and we could see all the other consatalations around the sky. Then the red shadow started to appear from the left hand side and gradually moved across. Then the moon was in complete shadow and it took on the shade of a dark ruby. It was beautiful but worrying cos of the greenhouse gases up there.

It was strange cos my animals were really quiet and subdued at this time, just lying there witht heir ears back. I don't know if they sensed anything or not, but their behaviour was strange.

Then, the moon began to appear and a thin, sharp, bright white light appeared. Then it appeared more around the right hand side of the shadow.

I really enjoyed it, although I would have loved to have been in the country, without street lighting. It was great anyway.... we let Little Andrew stay up late to watch it.
Lots of love

Lizzie
