Rapeseed Straw

We know someone with horses who beds them on rapeseed straw. They are thinking of using the resulting manure to feed a small scale commercial wormery for compost production. They have sought advice from a worm supplier but they are unsure as to whether it will work. Apparently the problem is the straw is treated in some way to make it less palatable to the horses. They cannot find anything out about this treatment and it's possible affects on the worms and / or the compost.
Does anybody know anything about this material?

Do you know the trade name of the bedding? I breed worms for exactly the use you have mentioned i.e. getting rid of horse muck. I have a person who uses a similar bedding called Hemcore which is the stalks of the hemp plant. They are very successful running their system using it. I'm not sure if it is treated with a product to deter horses from eating it though.

You know when you plant say lettuce some of them mature early and some hang about for ever well Oilseed rape in sprayed to kill it so the crop can be harvested at the same time so you dont have green pods and ripe pods.
