My husband wants to get a good labeller. He was talking of a Brother PT80 or PT1280. We want to label all our fruit trees and quite a number of other shrubs and trees, with a label that will still be legible in several years' time. A friend suggested getting a Brother labeller and then sticking the labels onto strips of aluminium.
Can anyone recommend a labelling system that works?

I bought a Brother P Touch in Lidl earlier this year (bargain) and I'm using their waterproof tape to make labels. I attach these onto the standard white plastic markers (for pots, trays and in the garden. It's early days, but they seem to be doing fine so far!

I have just started using my lidl p-touch too and it is really good, but I am keen to know where to get the cheapest tape rolls, does anyone know if they are available by other manufacturers or are they only made by Brother?

Compo,It's up to you to sort out your own answers. the topic was covered very recently on this forum. I don't believe another manufacturer would produce a copyrighted product at a cheaper price.

As I have said to Allan in private, there is no problem with asking again as new people join the forum all the time. I am not sure that they would be copyrighted Alan, they might be patented, but there is no evidence of any patent for the reels on the packaging.
This feels like the freedom of speech police are invading again

I have just tried the link provided above, funnily enough it is not to do with p-touch labels to any depth.
Whwn I bought my first machine I got 2 free tapes and a small discount on the machine, the second order for 5 tapes I got another free.
The supplier was

I think I may have found a cheaper labeller person - mine were only less than £7 per waterproof tape. I'll check this out tomorrow and come back to you.

I have looked on the website and on the tapes I purchased from them and see no evidence for your statement. TZ is one of the types of tape, Brother, p-touch and TZ are all referring to the same company.

Not sure if I'm allowed to mention eBay on here, but that's where I get my P Touch label reels from.
What I'd really like are those lovely labels that you find in large gardens - I think they might be a kind of engraving. They're rigid black plastic with white lettering showing through. I wonder whether shoe repairer type places might do them?
