I'm coming to the end of a few days off where I have been trying to get organised for this year. Weather not helping much

Anyway, myself & other half have replaced the leaking felt on the shed roof, replaced some broken raised bed edging and today we spread a ton load of pea shingle around the raised beds at home to bring the path levels back up - where does it all go We've also had a big tidy up and taken loads of stuff to the dump - including hubbies vast collection of warped rotten bits of wood he was 'saving' - he was sooooo brave - barely wimpered as I merrily chucked it in the skip

Assuming non-monsoon conditions tomorrow, I am venturing to the allotment to plant shallots and broad beans and maybe do a bit of digging if the mud is not too bad.

Gosh Sue, you have been busy, funny when we have a day or two off we still end up working.
I hope your hubby gets his revenge, for chucking his wood.
I've been stripping a bathroom out for a customer today, so i have got gardening withdrawals already, so will have to tend some land tomorrow to get my fix.

I bet you will sleep well tonight Sue, as i bet it has come quite hard doing some work.

Unfortunately, I have had to give up my lottie as we are moving, but I was speaking to my successor today, who was anxious because the plot is completely waterlogged!! I have cultivated the plot for the last 4 years, and have never had it waterlogged before - so I would worry about starting anything yet cosof the excessive water saturation. Having said that, I am maybe clutching at straws because I am so desperate to get started on my new plot and I can't cos we're not completing on new property 'till April - if it all goes through!!!! The thought that 'Oh well, it's much to wet to do anything yet' makes me feel a bit better.

Sue it sounds as if we have had similar experiences, I have been tidying too. Maz if I had to leave my allotment I probably would....well Cry.....

The weather has been bad hasn't it, I too have had a few days off, all week in fact, we visited family in Manchester, Sunday / Monday so I have had four days on the plot, which is getting wetter and wetter, thankfully we drain pretty well, but more weather is on the way in fact it is persisting down right now!!

I have been building a mega cold-frame to cover a whole raised bed it will end up being about 5m long by about 1.5m wide. The idea being to warm and dry some soil up for early sowing of peas, spuds and salads etc.

The greenhouse is now finished and have sown various things in peat pots, at last it feels like I am on top after the great greenhouse train-smash.

Off out for a family day out tomorrow, so will probably have one last afternoon on the plot on Sunday before going back to work!! Humbug!!

Will take some photos on Sunday and post them on here to show I have not been shirking.

Aaaaaaaaaaargh!!! Peter help me, I need the medication, sooner rather than later!! I am the last one on the end of this thread again!!!

Well - whilst I was trying to keep my eye on you lot last evening, the creatures of the night moved in.

Of the 4 rows of artichokes I planted last weekend, only 2 remain. Looking at the damage, I think the rats have been excavating as there isn't as much disturbance as I usually get when the badgers pay a visit.

In the tunnels, the nice mouse poison has been completely ignored. They haven't gone away hungry though as they've eaten four trays of broad beans, half a dozen pots of sweet peas and taken pieces out of the potatoes in there to chit.

On days like this, I wonder why I like gardening.
