Can you ripen these off the plant. We have just cut our down but have saved many green fruits. Will they ripen in our kitchen or should we compost them.
Kindest Regards, Piglet

Don't know the answer to this one Piglet, if you don't get an answer, you will have to try some and let us all know how you get on.
Green fruits at this time of year, everything has gone mad. :?
Kind Regards, Old Herbaceous.

No, I REALLY don't know. I read somewhere that the green ones are poisonous (so STOP feeding them to Piglette !), but you could always put them somewhere warm, dry and frost-free and do an experiment ?

All I know is that the 'semi' ripe ones I brought into the conservatory (they have to remain in their papery husks by the way) did 'finish' ripening so I'll stick them in the freezer to join their mates, and try and make some more jam with them later.

You must of been an extra specially good boy this year, Piglet, as Santa told me one of those Jams has already got your name on it...!

Was that your interpretation of "somewhere warm, dry and frost-free" Piglet?

I shall definitely know on Saturday, if I end up going shopping in Monmouth on my Tod, so tell Wellie the truth now Piggy...!
