This originated from another forum I am registered on, but it is a good cause and as we seem to be in the middle of petition season, I it to be rather relevant and related to the "more allotments" one.
Seems to make way for a path to the 2012 Olympic village the powers-that-be are planning on demolishing a long established allotment site

Thirty years later, Montreal's Olympic Stadium has finally been paid off
Tuesday, December 19, 2006 The Olympic-sized bill for the Big O is finally history some 30 years after the stadium was built as the main venue for the 1976 Summer Games.
Nuff said!

This sort of thing makes me so mad. Lots of people have put years of hard work into their allotments, only for it to be totally wasted. I think the 2012 Olympics will be a repeat farce of the Millenium Dome, only on a much more massive scale.

There are other allotment/gardening petitions on the downing street website. One is about developers buying houses with large gardens, knocking the house down and building new houses using up the garden too!
Gardens classed as brownfield sites?
They've lost the plot...

I got this message through yesterday. Not only are they going to relocate them once, they are planning on doing it twice. That is if they bother at all.....
