I know - they're flowers not veg, but they are edible!
Homebase are selling off 5Kg sacks of good quality bulbs for £1.35 instead of £6.99.
It's a little late for planting them out, but I chanced a few at that price.

Dear Tigger it is a little late, but i have found it doesn't make a huge difference, just a little later flowering maybe.
But at £1.35 what a display you will have, you wouldn't even buy one bunch of daffs for that, and with your bulbs you will have the pleasure for years to come as well.
As long as you make a big effort to plant them, and don't leave them sitting in their sack, until you find them in the summer all shrivelled up.

Yo Tigger!
Daffs are edible?
Have you any recipes?
Before anyone is tempted try a Google search e.g. "Are daffodils edible". The general opinion is
NO
I'm certainly not going to try - and I'm Welsh

The bulbs aren't edible but the flowers are, or at least they were when I was at school. We did a biology project on edible plants. Goodness only knows why?!

Many years ago I had a boyfriend who used to eat daffodil flowers, for no reason other than he was a total tit, but he never suffered any ill effects.

Dear Chantal, i don't suppose it was quite the same being given a bunch of stalks,

no wonder you dumped him.

He used to come to the house, see daffodils in a vase and eat the damn things. Why? He never actually gave me a bunch of stalks; don't think he ever gave me a bunch of anything to be honest.
