Does it kill snails?

Can't identify that mould? Got a great tip for keeping slugs at bay? Suggestions for organic weed control? Post them here...

I have been following the slug killer debate and nobody has mentioned snails which give us much more trouble than slugs, as we are surrounded by limestone dry stone walls where they live. Am I right in thinking that the nematode treatment does not work on snails? So what's our solution? I have used the liquid slug killer on the rockery and raised (flower) beds and that certainly works on snails. But nematodes?

No, nematodes don't work on snails, which is a real nuisance. I have found the only way is to go out on a damp warm evening and pick them all up. I'm afraid I then jump on them with my wellies, feeling really vicious!

Me too - a torch, wellies and the dog. preferably after a good rainfall. I think of it as a breakfast for the birds.

I thought it didn't work on snails and I collect them, too, but obviously miss a lot. I have also been looking for them "flocking" at this time of the year, because one can sometimes find loads of them clustered together. But that still doesn't stop dozens appearing in the spring!

I don't know if it's true, but I read somewhere that it's pointless collecting them up and jumping on them because they will be immediately replaced by their offspring. It just speeds up their childhood, if you see what I mean.

GW did a controlled trial a couple of years ago. They marked the snails they removed (but didn't kill) and found they simply made their way back onto the plot.

So why do I bother? Revenge!
