Have just been cleaning up some spare jam jars with metal lids to make inexpensive stocking fillers for small children. Into each one I'm putting one of the interesting range of different sprouting seed packets by Thompson & Morgan, together with a square of muslin (Jey cloth) & an elastic band so they have all the kit they need to grow something interesting over the Christmas holidays. As the seeds germinate and are be ready to eat within 3-6 days, hopefully this will be within their attention span and also help them learn something interesting about growing food to eat.

Gosh Primrose, thats a bit tight fisted.
Only joking Primrose, i think that really is a marvellous idea, i love presents that are home made with a bit of thought, i'm sure the children will have great fun growing them, and who knows, you might be responsible for our next generation of gardeners.
I was just thinking what you might send your dear husband, a dishcloth and tea towel maybe.

Well, as I said, they're only stocking fillers !! And when I was a child, I got a jar of sweets, a tangerine wrapped in silver foil and not much else in my stocking and that was my main present. Still, that was wartime and values and expectations are pretty different now. Perhaps I should swap the sprouting seeds for cannabis seeds?

Dear Primrose, i was only joking, i hope i have not upset you, as that would be my last intention.
I really do think they are very thoughtful presents, and i feel quite guilty for joking about them.
I think i must be more careful what i say to people.
