No-Digging, again.

There was an interesting article in yesterday’s Daily Telegraph Gardening section regarding ‘no-digging’ called Throwing in the trowel.
In a 4 year experiment by GREEN (Garden for Research Experiential Education and Nutrition) carrots, potatoes, leeks and spinach are being grown on 3 separate plots.
Each with the same amount of compost but one in single dug, one is double dug and the third is not dug at all. The no-dig plot will have compost applied in the autumn and rely on the worms etc. to incorporate it into the soil.
Each year the produce will be sent for analyses for 22 minerals. The results are due in 2009; should prove interesting.
